Default The Fozgometer

The new Fozgometer tool for dialing in azimuth, a must have tool if you want the very best from your cartridge

Here is an update on the Fozgometer and since I just picked up the line I wanted to share some experiences.

I was at a friends house demoing the Fozgometer and during the set up I noticed as I got closer to the correct azmuth adjustment the head shell was tilted around 3 degrees to the left......I said there must be something wrong so I started over and same thing. I next removed the detachable head shell and looked at the cantilever through a magnifing glass and guess what, I noticed the cantilever was tilted in the vertical plane about 3 degrees.......very common to see them tilted or bent in the horizontal plane but not so common in the vertical plane. Long story short these Fozgometers work great and the sound improved nicely too.......

What if the tonearm/headshell doesn't allow for azimuth adjustment? I guess returning the cartridge is the only way.

Putting shims between the head shell and cartridge has been a common thing to do and also shimming the arm base but you run into coupling problems if not done correctlly......always nice to have an arm with azmuth adjustment

Manufactures like Ortofon has a 2 degree adjustment built into thier cartridges, the top has a slight crown and they can be adjusted either right or left 2 degrees
