818v2 operation questions
I'm using an 818v2 as a preamp with Sooloos as one of the sources
So here is what I find unusual and something I hope some setting/programming will change: When I have Sooloos (AUX) selected on the 818 and then change the 818 input, it stops my Sooloos . I'd like it not to effect the Sooloos at all (ie: the Sooloos keeps swimming, etc.) When I start an album on any Sooloos interface (CMac, C10, etc.) the 818 immediately goes to the AUX (SLS) input. I'd like to stop this behavior also. Is this normal, can it be changed? Last edited by g997; 11-05-2013 at 07:01 PM. |

When I was using my 808v3 as a pre-amp it acted similar to your 818.
I am not sure how it acted if I was listening to my second end-point (MC-200) for output. I will try that this morning and see what happens. |

I just checked. The 808 stays on the input selected (CD, Analog, etc) if a different endpoint is selected using Core Control. If I use the remote to select CD while using the 808 endpoint to play SLS it will stop.
How are you choosing between endpoints ? |

Normally, this behaviour is exactly what you want.

There were times when I wanted to compare a CD versus the hi Rez version saved on Sooloos. On a normal pre I could start the cd and file about 7 seconds apart and quickly switch back and forth comparing the same passage. This doesn't work with the inputs on the 808 and it sounds the same on the 818. So there is the occasional time where this doesn't work the way I would like.

I only use the 818 as end point

Well there appears to be no work around on the 818 to make it operate like a standard preamp.
It would be great if Meridian offered in the program to put the unit into non Sooloos configuration..... |
