Smile A/B Testing

CDobson..... I've never had the opportunity to A/B test the MC452 and the MC1.2KWs, but I'm definitely up for it.

Dynophile..... Just for my personal edification, how did you notice the leaking cap's?

Regardless, I'm happy to read that you were able to correct the issue.

The repair shop noticed it after I sent the amp in for repairs. Capacitors were replaced with new ones.

Dynophile..... Do you mind if I ask you about your repair work? Once again, our big stereo amp is an MC452; hence, the question...

Thumbs up Mc2500

Macuser..... I was just looking at the MC2500 in the Mac compendium. Damn! It looks (and reads) as if you could arc weld with it. 500W per channel stereo and 1KW mono into a 0.5 ohm Z! I can see why it had the makings of a great amp. Nice.

AClearSpot..... It's always great to run into another MC452 driver. As I was already in the Mac compendium looking up another Mac amp, I clicked on over to the MA6600. That's a very nice looking integrated! Plenty of connectivity, including XLR outs, sweet!

By the way, your AAF handle wouldn't be a tribute to Don Van Vliet by any chance, would it?

I retired them in 2010 and a couple years ago I boxed them up and put them in climate controlled storage. A few friends have offered to take them off my hands but they have sentimental value.

JBT..... I understand. We were blown out of NOLA by Katrina and ended up in a condo complex -- with extremely strict noise covenants -- for more than a decade. In other words, all of our Mac gear was in climate-controlled storage for over 10 years. Luckily, we're now in a home again and our stuff has been out of storage for over two years now.
