Default Pass Labs 60.8 vs 260.8

I recently purchased a Pass INT-60 and really love it. But of course I am wondering how the 60.8 or 260.8 would sound. I am currently driving a pair of Dynaudio Contour 20 and a JL F112v2 with it, and I find myself going over 3/4 on the volume control and going into Class AB.

Would the 60.8 have enough horses to get the job done, or would I need the 260.8? I would prefer to stay in Class A as long as possible.

Appears your DC20s are down near 86dB (2.83V / 1m) efficiency, correct?
And, your JL sub is no slouch. Typically the INT-60 can drive most anything..,

Just wondering if your speakers are an alternative option for change vs. amps?

Yes, the speakers have an efficiency of 86dB, but I love them.

A move to XA60.8 monos would keep you in Class-A, if that's what you want. If you want to stay with a Class A/B amp, XA150.8 is where it starts in the XA .8 line. If your INT-60 is not enough, it also depends on your room size, and how loud you really need to play it. The room is the speaker too. How large is the room? Lots of other variables. This is where good dealers come in, try it and see.

Well, dilemma solved. I had a pair of 260.8 delivered yesterday, and they have been breaking in since then. Interestingly enough, I thought I had ordered a pair of 60.8, but Mark at Reno sent me the 260.8. I am very happy he did. They obviously need to break in more, but they already sound better than the 250.8. For me anyway, Pass Labs and Dynaudio are a fabulous combination. I could probably use a little more gain from my XP-22, but that’s just nitpicking [emoji23]

I think you should give Kent English a call at Pass Labs customer service. Very knowledgeable and a straight shooter.

Wow, you now have a "pair" of 260.8 Monoblocks amplifiers (correct?), and can "use a little more gain" on your preamp? Kinda seems like something is off somewhere. Should be capable of blowing the windows out with moderate volume control. Maybe something else is going on there.

Specs on XP-22 are:
Output impedance: balanced, 50 ohms; single-ended, 25 ohms.
Maximum output: 33V RMS.

Yes, correct. I have pair of 260.8. I have the volume at roughly 70-75 for “normal” listening. But I have only had them on for three days so I am clearly still breaking them in. And it’s possible that the level is common, and I just don’t realize it. I’m not exactly an expert.

I have a silly question, but is there a chance the "Mute" is selected on the XP-22?

Some preamps have partial mute and can still play output is why I ask. I looked the XP-22 and XP30 manuals and can't tell. Not sure what else, maybe call Pass.
