One doubt Puma Cat. When you say minimal 1,5m... was it a mistake, not maximum? Besides the WWPS with 2 m, I have an USB KS2436 Select silver feeding the Wadia DAC/CD, with 1m . Perhaps not the best length so...
Hi Rui,
No, it was not a mistake. The minimum length for a digital cable should be 1.5M. This is mitigate the impact of reflections in the cable; this is particularly problematic for digital cables as they operate at higher bandwidth than analog cables, and there is bandwidth-dependent component to the impact and degree that reflections have on the signal.

Also, Shunyata makes amazing USB cables; the Alpha USB cable was a revelation for me, and a component-level upgrade. You can find my review of it here at AA from 2019. The Shunyata Sigma USB is another level above that because of the increased clarity, transparency and focus that the Shunyata TAP device provides, and the top-level Omega USB will absolutely knock your socks off.

Ah, good question, Greg. I forgot to include these classes of digital cables because I don't use them in my system But, yes, the minimum length requirement is for any digital cable is 1.5 M.

AA member SCAudiophile (Mark) is a great resource for the Shunyata clock cables as he has qute a bit of experience with them. I forget at the moment if Mark uses a digital coax or AES/EBU for his clock, for example, but he's a great resource, nonetheless.

Shunyata’s digital cables have extremely tight tolerances. Minimum lengths that are quoted for their cables may not apply to other brands that don’t have the same aims. It’s best to seek the manufacturer’s specific guidance for their own products. Wireworld sells digital cables as short as 0.5m - which is something Shunyata would not do - so we are not looking at apples-to-apples.

I have had the original Venom Digtial on my Aurender Music server for the past few years.
I recently upgraded almost all of my previous Shunyata PC’s to the new Venom V2 NR10’s (Venom V2NR12 on my Home Theater Pre/ Pro).
I also purchased Venom V14 Digital for my Apple TV and for the Farad 3 powering my EtherRegen switch (Delta v2 Ethernet cable to Aurender).
My two questions/ curiosity is:
1. Would it benefit me two switch from original Venom Digital to the new Venom 14D even if it’s lower grade and gauge vs. the original?
The V14D was specifically designed for devices that reside entirely in the digital domain; it's noise filter functionality has been optimized for this, and as such, it was designed for digital streamers, network bridges, Ethernet switches, routers, music servers, etc. It also works a treat on HDTVs and AVRs.

Oh, here's an example for you: I recently had to power my Sonore OpticalModule with one of my original Shunyata Venom 3 power cords because I needed the Venom V14D for the Fidata HFAS1 I was reviewing for TAS. Once I was done with the review, I put the V14D back onto the Sonore OpticalModule and heard a very clear improvement in clarity, tonality, and reduction in noise.

The Venom V10, and Delta, Alpha, Sigma NRv2, and Omega PC were specifically designed for noise reduction the internal (full-wave bridge rectifier) power supplies for "analog-domain" components themselves, e.g. amps, preamps, phono stages and DACs (this is why the NR filter is at the component IEC receptacle end).

2. I upgraded from Original Venom HC on both of my Furman IT power conditioners to wall to Venom V2 NR10’s, from reading this thread, it sounds like maybe I would be better off with the Venom 10 V2 XC’s for them instead??
Yes, in theory. However, the biggest problem are the Furman power conditioner themselves. Any fairly subtle sonci differences between the Venom 10 XC and Venom V10 will be masked by the Furmans.

A much better solution is to use a Shunyata Venom PS8 powered by a Venom NRv10.

My suggestion is to rent in the power cables you're interested and listen for yourself. Once you have listened for a bit and have made an informed decision, our fearless leader, MasterLu, will quickly and effectively get you sussed with any products you may decide you want to get.

Are you saying, then, that the Furmans themselves generate noise apart from what's coming from the wall and pass that on to any equipment plugged into them, or that they pass noise from the wall to the equipment? I remember seeing a demo of the two Furman conditioners I own and they did reduce noise quite well (especially on the high-current outlets), but the Venom NRs reduced noise even more (I watched your demos).

My Furmans (one of which I've had less than a year) have Venom HCs on them and are chained. I'd been kicking around the idea of replacing the HCs with Venom NRs but never got around to it. I have PCs with network modules on my gear and noted consistent improvement there, so I was thinking Venom NRs on both conditioners would help further, though I can't say I have a problem with what I hear now. But perhaps there's more improvement to be had.
