Another endorsement here along with other less costly tweaks. On your journey it may become apparent where to spend the big money. SS, tubes or a mixture? It depends what sound your after. For me, mine changes. I started out SS but soon started adding tubes in for warmth but now I'm missing some of the clarity at the top end. This is where tube rolling (Baltic 3) can help. Next up? I'm eyeing a streamer or should I say earing. Of course I will turn to AA members for suggestion when the time comes. They do know how to spend other members money.

The point is "it's a journey"..... enjoy.

Good point. I used mine before buying a separate DAC. Sounded good.

While we are spending your money, why stop with the MC462 and go with a pair of MC611. That is what I have with my C2700. Wonderful combination. Welcome to the forum.

I second that. Combo MC611 and C2700 is great.

For my listening, adding a number of GIK Acoustics panels brought one of the biggest improvements I've made for my listening set-up.

Cheers.

At least put some on the two walls at your first reflection point. I went from nothing at all to a full treatment including the ceiling. Holy moly.

Thanks all - big help. Lot's of things to consider on my journey - exciting process.

YB-2 - Thanks, sounds like an easy switch. New tubes it is.

John - I have not heard the 275, but there seems to be more than a few people that prefer the tube amps. I'll need to do a tube/SS comparison when I go amp shopping. I need to check CD player for digital out. I forget the AR model. I bought in mid-70s, 3-way bookshelf.

McMan - all good thoughts. I'm strictly music. I have the MB50 streamer. I don't care for the Play-Fi app.

Yup. The best components cannot fix...problematical room acoustics.

And...most rooms will have problems.

You mention a "Mac streaming device........".
Not sure what that is, but moving to a dedicated digital set-up, not based on a Mac computer/phone/tablet, will provide very significant gains in SQ (ask me how I know). In doing a 'digital upgrade', the AC power cord and grounding system cannot be neglected. Read a few of the threads in the Shunyata section. The improvements are quite astounding and would be important using the DA2 module in your C2700 as the DAC.

His stream device is a McIntosh Mb50.

I can not believe I over looked this, but dual subwoofers will make the most considerable impact within your system.

I doubt you will need more power after installing and properly calibrating the subwoofers in the room.

I got my dealer involved and, with his computer and software, smoothed out the entire frequency. I had some significant dips in the lower frequency.

It is a shocking difference when I cut the subs out of the system.

TD 1958 welcome to AA

Since we're all spending your money rather lavishly I'd chime in with the MC1502. Since I put that amp into my system two years ago I have never looked back for a split-second. IMHO one of MC's finest sounding amps with plenty enough power to drive your SF's. With your C2700 already in house you'd have a match made in heaven.

BTW, Stephen (Puma) is 100% right on room acoustics. It should not be overlooked.
