Default New: Benchmark DAC1 HDR

The Benchmark DAC1 HDR.......
Introducing the latest in a line of products from Benchmark that pushes the envelope of the digital to audio converter. The DAC1-HDR, short for High definition and resolution, brings the DAC1 line way out of the box with "insert famous opamp maker here" operational amplifiers, the latest delta-sigma AKM DACs, implemented in a new and extremely high upsampling rate of 2.4 Terahertz configuration.

And the sustained free cash flow for a corporation is equal to the rate of the preferred shareholder dividend with proper positive net working capital.

English - please! Terahertz? KHZ->MHZ->GHZ->THZ We're still in KHZ for most things, so.... I'd LOVE to hear this one explained. What is the maximum input frequency?

And you know I'm not hating, I am really curious. You love this manufacturers' products, don't you?

Not much on the net about it.No release date? I wonder what it will cost and if it will compare favorably with the MDA1000?

Dj_Amtrax,

Who is - insert famous opamp maker here

It seems Benchmark pops out updated DAC products like mice have babies.

I was just getting used to their DAC Pre

I had a benchmark DAC, didn't really like it. I will say that their support line is top shelf.

Rundown:

24/96 via USB (neat feature), then 24/192 native DACs with input range from 28-195khz.

Looks cool for being such a small form factor.

Default Dac1hdr

I spoke with Benchmark yesterday about the DAC1HDR. The HDR stands for "high dynamic range volume control". The specs appear identical to the DAC1 Pre. The HDR unit features a remote control with a volume control, a neat feature for those using the unit as a preamp. It should also be useful to mute or tone down commercials when a TV is connected to the HDR. The unit also comes in black.
I have been testing a DAC1 Pre for the last couple of weeks. It is very impressive connected to my Logitech Squeezebox Duet, which it otherwise unlistenable without the DAC1 pre interface. The DAC1Pre creates very smooth and dynamic music out of the squeezebox with a deep and expansive soundstage. Amazing versatility and sound quality from those two units hooked in tandem.
Will be sending my DAC1 Pre back to Benchmark next week for replacement with an HDR version. For me the remote is a worthwhile feature.
I have also ordered a MCD500 to compare the DAC's in that with the Benchmark DAC1 HDR.
It will be mid May or so before I have a chance to get both units and compare. I will report my impressions to AA folks after I have had them in my system for awhile.
BTW, price for new DAC1HDR is $1895.00.

Does anyone know if the DAC and output circuitry changed from the DAC1USB to the DACPre?

I was wondering if I should listen again??

Not sure if they still have the 30 day money back guarantee, but if so and they have made a change it might be worth a listen.
