Thing is about Jap pricing, it's good for nowhere else because of the 100v thing. They certainly look after their own domestic market & the further out they fly, the dearer they get.

I recall when Denon did this with their S-1 range in the 90's. Those that "grey marketed" in the US didn't last that long on US voltage & probably went by way of the Johnny Boey...

Certainly agree with amps. Preamps, CD/SACD players and phono stages certainly are not a problem. Just buy a Japanese Kashimura universal step down and the Japanese front end components work a treat.

I do this with my two Japanese DD turntables, Pioneer head amp and ORB LP flattener that I own currently.

Cheers

Accuphase is easily converted to 120V from 220V here in hong Kong. The dealer will do it for you and we pay Japanese prices. My dealer exports a lot to the USA since as someone put it nicely the prices in the US are insane, normally more than double what we pay

I am planning on buying a Accuphase T-1100 tuner in the near future. Just an awesome tuner & it can be connected dac-out to a high end dac or cd player to improve the sound further

My own pics :

I just love the Accuphase look and I'll certainly stay with the brand as I upgrade. I hope the DP600 can match the Esoteric because I'd hate missing on the combo.

Right now, I have a used DP67 until I replenish my hifi fund. But source upgrade is next on my list.

That's a wonderful machine! I'd love to see how it performs against other CD players. However, it is way overpriced here (20k€ vs 7.5k€ shipped from Japan)

No, and i'm glad it doesn't. Warm analogue all the way for me my friend! Dab+ is not all that it's cracked up to be. Have a read of this webpage - Digital Radio Plus: NOT - DAB+ and its minuses - WebDevSys Besides that, the T-1100 is the best tuner in the world at the moment

Still, I would like to get a portable Dab+ player, or maybe small Tivoli Dab+ radio in the future just for background listening while doing the vacuuming or ironing.

Thanks for the heads up David. I wasn't aware that most stations are a paltry 64kbps.

That's worse than Internet radio where quite a few are doing 320kbps.

We have a portable $90 Bush.
