Default New Stingray is In

First let me say I have never been into corvettes. I always thought they looked good on the outside but the interior and brutish way they handled left me not wanting to own one. When GM announced the C7 model and all the you tube video reviews starting showing up I took notice. I was not exactly sure about my decision when I ordered this car so my expectations were not exactly high since I have pretty much driven german cars for the last 20 years. In fact I sold my 2013 Porsche 911 when I decided to buy this car. Well so far I am thrilled with my decision. Not only is the exterior beautiful but the interior is now on par with the german cars, much better seats, much better material. The dash is all leather and carbon fiber. The sound system actually sounds pretty decent. The car is tight, no rattles. I am still learning about the different drive settings with the magnetic ride from weather, economy which shuts 4 cyclinders off below 2 k rpm, sport, track, touring. My wife never liked my porsches, she thought they rode too hard. In touring mode the sport exhaust is in quiet mode the suspension is softer and quite comfortable but that is not the reason to buy this car, but it does mean we can take it on long trips now . In sport mode the personality of this car turns into a really fun sports car with tons of low end torque and the sound of the V8 is wonderful. In track mode it feels like a true super car. Here are some pictures.

Beautiful! As a Lifetime Corvette Museum Member and lifelong fan of Corvettes I completely agree with your assessment of the pre-C7 Corvettes. While I love my custom C5 convertible, it is a "bucket of bolts" compared to what they are producing now.

I had the honor of test driving a prototype C6 in 2003 with none other than Dave Hill, Corvette's Chief Engineer in the passenger seat (via charity auction bid). He spoke of the desire to evolve the Corvette into something that could compete with the European sports cars. That meant slightly shorter wheel-base, more solid build overall, and better quality interiors. My first experience in that yellow C6 convertible told me they were on the right path. The only sad thing about that drive was knowing that car had no future. It was a prototype for driving around Bowling Green, and it was going into the crusher in a couple of months.

This new generation looks like they truly can compete with the Euros. I'm looking forward to trading in the "bucket of bolts". Enjoy!
