Jeff,

Is there any way to find out about the 007 vs the 077 as a preamp? I can't really find anything on the web about the 007 Reference Line Surround Processor. I would appreciate any help. Thanks! If not, I understand.

Very simple Dieter Burmester, the CEO of such audio jewels developed in order to aim for the absolute sound.

I don't know if it's the "absolute" sound, but it is my favorite at this point. I've just spent some great time with the Octave tube monoblocks and they are excellent as well. Even a touch more midrange magic and some of the best bass I've ever heard from a pair of tube amplifiers. Not quite as much ultimate power as the 911 either. But another flavor I could certainly be very happy with.

But I wouldn't trade the 911 for them. I just don't want to replace 16 tubes annually!

The Burmester gear, so far, does a better job of offering the things I like most about solid state and tube gear all in one box, without having to worry about finding tubes...

Well, I have not received a solid answer thus far, so here is my list:

1) It seems almost unanimous that the Burmester 911 MK3 is the way to enter the Burmester galaxy.(or 909MK5 if deeper pockets)

2) This is more subjective: I would say a 069 or 089 CDP. Why? One just has to hear what Burmester has done with the CD medium. A spectacular belt drive transport. In fact the best in the world for jitter reduction. They upsample to either 24/192 or 24/96. To me, better than black spinning frisbees.

3) Preamp: I don't know. Joe perhaps?
