antipop.......There is no magic formula for auditioning cables. Trust your ears and ignore everyone else's opinions. Until you have actually auditioned an interconnect or power cable, all the discussion in the world will not offer you a clue as to what it will sound like in your system. Discourse is no substitute for experience. Try different cables and trust your ears. If you hear an improvement in your system's sound, great. If not, move on. Again, trust your ears. The banter is simply audiophile bloviating. Try different interconnects and/or power cables in your own system. You'll soon discover if the touted benefits are bogus or real.

I have tried different cables and if I hear no difference I move on, if I hear something I like than the purchase is made. All that should matter is what you hear and not what others say you should hear. Lucky for me I have a dealer that I have known for 30 years and he lets me borrow stuff to try at home. |

Here we grow again.......
I was a sceptic & for many years too. Now I am a sucker..but for sound science & not voodoo science. There is valid science to high purity precious metals that are drawn & wound methodically, carefully shielded & terminated. You only have to look at what the aerospace industry do. IMO tuning mediocre wire with passive electronics in the termination or joined inside of some welded black box in the middle of a run is voodoo science. Good quality cable of comparable metallurgical composition sounds very similar after 1000hrs. Some take longer than others to get there... Just sayin' Last edited by MyPal; 02-27-2013 at 07:49 AM. |

That's definitely what I need to do. It reassures me that I don't have to go into a ritual to really assess the quality of a cable*. Just like for my speaker, listen to the first onem then the second one if I don't notice a change it's probably because there is none. I've already tried listening during hours at a cable switching between the first and second. After a while, I found myself in a quite ridiculous position trying to assess if I had more ding at the beginning of one song with cable A than with cable B... So I just gave up and enjoyed the music instead *i heard the proper way was after installing a cable to first run counterclockwise in the room then clockwise to give more mana to the electrons. You could get extra mana by invocking the spirit of the musician you are going to listen to. |

How could a company design and build a prototype when it takes 1000 hours [that's SIX WEEKS folks] to break in and see if their design accomplishes their goals before moving on to the next prototype design test?
