I'm getting Chasney's CP does Cole Porter in the post, and that will be the end of me acquiring the greatest innovator in Jazz history's adaptations of other peoples work. No offence to Louis A, but i was young when I first heard the Hot 5's.

Archie Shepp - Four For Trane
Impulse Records IMP-218, 180gm LP, 1997 release
Great album. In addition to Archie, digging the trombone playing of Roswell Rudd.

+ 1 would also recommend Archie Shepp and the full moon ensemble, live in Antibes vol.1

Also Archie Shepp - Yasmina, a black woman. That album is somewhat fringe...

For some reason I have resisted buying this album because I cant get a read on the styling of music (I love his Kinda Blue licks) but sometimes have to be in a certain mode for some of the other works. What is the scoop on this one?

Playing this for the first time since after I bought it 25 years ago or so. This is pretty good, from a Mingus vet.

Mick Goodrick In Pas(s)ing (Promo) 1979 ECM Records, Warner Bros. Records Inc. EX

Probably the best guitar/music instructor at Berklee School Of Music in Boston. This guy can play. His students are some of the best jazz/fusion guitarist out there.
