Ultimate Analog and digital together
Last night I went to a Rock Concert for Elton John and Billy Joel. The show was fantastic. Elton John and Billy Joel started out with just 2 grand Piano's on stage facing each other while they took turn doing duets of each others music. Then arising from the below floor level Elton's band appeared on stage and he and his band played hit after hit for 1 1/2 hours. As the sun went down the light show became more spectacular. The crowd started to sing along with many of his songs and before long the power of a crowd of 60,000 fans feeding the band with energy was evident. Billy Joels band and Eltons band seamlessly exchanged positions as one arose from the below and the other sunk down below floor level. Billy Joel came on stage with a blast of energy and although rumors had it that he was sick before the show, you would not have known it from his performance. After an hour or so, both Elton John and Billy Joel were back on stage together and played for another 1 /2 hour or so before the show ended. It was one of the best rock and roll concerts I have ever been to. It is rare to be at a concert where you know every single song for 3 hours or more and not one was bad. If they come to your area go.. they are both getting older and they may not be doing this in a few years. By the way the bass from the drums sometimes shook the entire stadium, not in a bad way but rather adding a awesome flavor of pay attention.

David, sounds like you enjoyed the show. I am a bit confused where the "digital" part comes in.

I forgot to mention that I know the keyboard player, David Rosenthal in Billy's band, which also added a little more enjoyment to the show. Since the keyboard is digital the music was not all analog I was invited to see Steeley Dan in NYC this Saturday but my wife does not want to go Next concert is Bruce Springsteen, I have tickets on the front floor section. Here are a few pictures with my crappy phone camera

1KW-Thanks for the review. I have tickets to see them here in the bay area in November. I wasn't sure what to expect. It sounds like a great show. I'm looking forward to it even more now.
I saw Elton in Vegas in March. It was one of his last shows to be performed at Caesars. It was really good too. |

David, sounds like a great show, both those guys bring back memories of the 70s & a bit of the 80s.

David - sounds like you had a great time!
I never saw them in concert - sounds like I am really missing something. I have seen Bruce - years ago at the Giants Stadium. EXCELLENT show back then. Regarding Steely Dan - that I would like to see as well. I have many of their CD's.
