Try this new one from Nelsons and the BSO. Outstanding, imho. Andris Nelsons' First Album with the BSO | Boston Symphony Orchestra | bso.org

The price for the 96/24 FLAC is very reasonable (10,99$) so I will buy it without hesitation. Thanks for the recommendation, Kal!

Disc 1: Symphonies 1 & 3. This sounds superlative and I can see right away why folks here recommend this highly. Oh yeah, the performances are excellent too.
Continuing to explore this set.

SACD 7: Symphony No. 10. Powerful and intense. The brass is nicely captured here.

Carlos...the 10th is my favorite Shostakovich symphony.
I like this older performance from 1971 by Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra on Columbia Lp.
Excellent sound that definitely captures the power and intensity,as you put it.

Every 6 months or so we play this fantastic 'fusion' album: a prefect marriage of renaissance with mystical sufism.

Downloaded the album in FLAC (24/96) and now listening for the first time. First impression is very positive!

Thanks again, Kal, for the heads-up!

Polyphonic pieces that seem to be downloaded directly from heaven.
Sung by an absolute top ensemble.
Nice recording too.
Listening to this album again.
I can only confirm my earlier findings.

Default Dvorak: Cello Concerto

Here we have...

Dvorak: Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104
Tchaikovsky: Variations on a Rococo Theme, Op. 33
Mstislav Rostropovich (cello)
Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Herbert von Karajan

...two giants striking sparks off each other. Good 1968-vintage recorded sound sound.

Arrow From the top of the HP/TAS list of the best LPs

This one is a winner in every sense of the word!!!!

Listening to the original RCA Living Stereo LP

Prokofieff — Lieutenant Kije
Stravinsky — Song Of The Nightingale

Chicago Symphony Orchestra - Fritz Reiner, Conductor

The late Harry Pearson said more than once that this was his favorite recording . . . and it is that good. Incredible performance, incredible sound.

And, I love it !!! ❤️❤️❤️
