Yes, buts it’s spreading faster than my resources can keep up. I need to divest myself from other hobbies and pace myself for this next potential splurge. Hurry up and get it so we all know if we are going drop the dinero or not, 😂

Charles, you're my hero! Very excited for you, and looking forward to your review. You may be the only person outside of Mc to be able/willing to do a true side by side comparison of ultimate tubes vs SS

Congrats!

Charles you could make a new McIntosh product by combining the 1.25s and a pair of McIntosh 3500 mk2 using a MEN220, you would have a product even McIntosh has not made yet.

All eyes on Charles.....Charles, you've instantly become the star of the show!

Many AA'ers, including this one, are most eager to hear all about this amp once it is in your hands.

Well, thanks to all very very much! I am going to have my plinth installed very soon and I am going to pay for the amp asap. It helps to expedite the order. In regards to Aaron's comment, I know he was joking but my friend at Mac said they were quite surprised at the number of 901's they have sold, especially overseas. He said that the new 3500 was in his opinion the "King" of all the Mac amps including the 901. The 2KW's will not fit comfortably into my room and this purchase eliminates them from my thoughts. The XVX is a 4 ohm speaker. I will run it off the 4 ohm tap.

I saw the original 3500 selling for 59K in mint condition on eBay, but I would much rather have the new amp. It has a much better S/N ratio (120 dB vs 95 dB) and the newest Mac protection circuits. I like its looks better too with the much larger blue meters. I like the tube warmup feature. I believe the power output will be comparable to the original. The high S/N ratio sold me on the amp. It's almost as quiet as my 1.25KW's (124 dB vs 120 dB). This really is a dream come true for me. I feel like I'm a kid again going into the living room to hear my Dad's Concert Grands.

Best to all,

Charles
