Default Will the D4 series grills fit on the D3 802?

It appears that speaker grills for the new D4 should fit on the D3 which has the same face trim ring. Does anyone know if this is the case?

I can tell you that the grilles from the HTM81 D4 do not fit the 802D3s, and vice versa (at least mine don’t).

Last week I've got a pair of 802 D4 replacing my 802 D3. I was told that the D3 grills don't fit on the D4. But I don't know vice versa.

What I've seen is that the new grills have a magnetic metall ring to attach it on the speaker. Maybe a B&W dealer can help when he has both models available.

All we need is for someone to try it if possible as the magnets behind the metal rings for the D3 woofers appear to be the same on the D4 along with ring size being the same, so it would appear to work but not sure.

On the Midrange to me not as big of a deal as the D3 already has a grill that can be held magnetically without the metal trim ring which would better match the new woofer grills.

If it works I would order a set of grills through parts as especially the woofer grills are far nicer in appearance.

I checked again and the midrange HTM81 D4 grill will precariously stay on the 802 D3 but it definitely doesn’t fit. The D4 woofer grill does seem to fit properly on the 802 D3 (sorry, I didn’t bother to check that before my previous post since I was looking at an all or none solution).

Thanks for the feedback. I imagine the woofer grills should fit but the question I still have is will it magnetically attach the same way as it does on the D4 and be totally secure?

If it's important to you, why not contact your dealer or B&W?
