I'm with Jerome on this, Expert Stylus. But as I assume you are in the US, Soundsmith might be easier.

Just found out that the cleaning lady does not belong to any agency. She's just an old Mexican lady that works on her own. She was just recommended by my wife's friend. I know she doesn't have much and definitely can't afford the pay for the damage. Oh well! But really, home insurance? I guess it doesn't hurt to try.

I made a point of declaring ALL the separate items that make up my turntable to the Insurance company. I think the girl on the phone could not believe what I had spent... The cartridge is therefore covered for its true value, not some percentage of the total.

Yes. Peter Ledermann, the owner, does all the retip work. First had him retip a Denon DL-303 as a 'trail run' about 8yr ago. Excellent. Next, he got my Ortofon Kontrapunkt-b, and, again, excellent work. Just sent him my Lyra Kleos. He is quoting around 16 weeks, which is OK. Have plenty of cartridges to 'tide me over'. Good luck with yours.

I'm sure that Soundsmith can do it. However, given all the reports of this happening, I have to wonder why cleaning ladies are allowed anywhere near audio systems. I do all my own cleaning at my house and wouldn't even think of allowing a cleaning woman to even enter my listening room.

Soundsmith (Peter L) repaired my Clearaudio Maestro cart a few years back.

Our cleaning lady and sidekick have been instructed since day 1 not to enter my music room. I handle all cleaning duties in there. It certainly helps having my system in a dedicated room. I can easily see how this happens when the turntable is in a common area and there is no dust cover protecting the stylus.

I have recurrent dreams that my Benz LP-S stylus gets trashed. Comes with the territory.
