The record seems cheap enough that you could buy multiple pressings and decide for yourself. There are several listed on Discogs under the first vinyl pressing from a variety of countries, most in the 15-20 dollar range. FWIW, the Ziggy 2012 40th Anniversary is good, but the first pressings had a defect on the track 'Star.' The 'hot' one is apparently a third UK pressing with the 6E/4E stampers. A little more expensive than this Linda R record, but not crazy money either. I find that sometimes, there are tonal differences between different pressings that don't lead to a single 'best' but a sort of choice between the sound you want. For example, yesterday, we compared two pressings of Rod Stewart's 'Every Picture'- a U.S. white label promo and a UK first. The WLP was far punchier, more detail; the UK, smoother, a little darker sounding, less apparent detail and less 'hot' sounding. So part of it may be what your ears are after, and what your system does or doesn't do well. I have gotten to the point where on many records I like in the pop vein, I have multiple pressings and all bring something a little different to the proceedings.
Good luck. Never heard this record, i may buy one, just to check it out. |

Thanks, I did pickup the 3rd UK pressing and it sounds fine. Not a big fan of the album but it made my wife very happy and rounded out my Linda R collection. I really appreciate all the input. The recording quality is very good but not stellar. Since this was a special project for her and a dedication to her father I was hoping for a little better effort for the final product. Her performance was what you'd expect as close to perfect as you can get but I'm certainly no judge of Spanish records. I do enjoy Flaco Jimenez on accordion especially backing Freddie Fender or any iteration of the Texas Tornados but mainly for the party aspects of TexMex music. Give me a couple shots of tequila and a dos Equis and I'm good but not to sit back and just listen. Well OK maybe some Freddie Fender if the mood strikes me but I've never heard any of that music type that I would call great recordings. There probably is some I've just not been so lucky as to hear. Performance on the other hand is something else.
