This is clasic tube amp design stage of the early post WW2 era, Shindo has established his basic circuits at this stage an does variations on the theme. Later his own designs began to be more different from standard and his grown expertise lead to more complex circuits with more refinements.
Phono stages have been surprisingly constant in design with only variations in tube types but no different eq were used all the time. Line stages and Power supps are variables. |

Claret was the entry stage preamp model in europe for long time. There are some versions of it with tube rect. and without. ECC83 and ECC81 makes a classic circuit with cathode follower. No power suply regulation of course in this class but it was the time when new upper mono models like Catherine invented this. Sold as Kit and readymade unit.
It does not have that rich sound of some old models like Allegro but still outstanding compared to others and in its class. Good for small speakers and rooms. Beware of the Kit versions. |
