In fact I'm into Vintage gear as you can see by my list. Allot not shown. Now I'm in the unloading part of my Stuff faze of life. I have a Marantz Model 500 and and an Altec 604-8k Speaker pair listed here. BTW.. I had a set Of those Koss Pro IV AA that you list... Killer Sound!

I have to turn some cash to feed the 502 BB and Maintain My everyday Driver a 09 Hummer H2, the poster boy for bad gas milage.
You have some very nice vintage Marantz gear -- the 500's -- weren't they the beginnings of the blue meters for Marantz? I remember looking thru the military AAFES & Navy Exchange catalogs and drooling over the Marantz, Sansui, Pioneer and other manufacturers that were listed in those catalogues back in the early 70's.

You could special order practically anything thru the military PX's at the time as well. Infact, in Saigon PX I saw a McIntosh MC-275 sitting on the shelf someone special ordered and for whatever reason (hope it wasn't what one suspects), never picked up. I think the military PX price was $275 - more than a month's pay w/combat pay.

I'll finish -- fast forward to around 1974, I requested and received a military price list and many brochures from McIntosh HQ. Again, too much for my paltry pay - but enjoyed drooling.

Not to TC -- but necessary as memories are great -- I did 3 years in a special joint service assignment on Clark AFB '85-'88. Went to Subic a few times from Angeles City - while enroute, had to pay the local police 60 pesos for driving infraction #464 (crossing yellow center lines -- well, the road didn't have any yellow lines). On the return, I floored the Datsun thru the check point. Didn't hear a bang -- probably didn't have any bullets.

That is what a allot of guys did. Between Cars and Audio and Cameras. When I first hit Vietnam in 1966 before I got chucked out into the bush, I had ordered a Yashica J-7 35 MM camera. I guess I thought I was on Vacation. L.O.L.

Got to use it a few times. Some guys at base camps had Akia and Pioneer stuff from the PX sent in.

Never took my camera out on missions though. It was more important to shoot with your rifle then a Camera....LMAO.

Did get to move around South Vietnam as I was a Combat Engineer. Got to go out and repair in my Contact Truck. And when I wasn't doing that I put the wrench down and used the other tool M14A1

LMAO... I can tell from your name MINER that you'd love to dig into my Bank Account...

Yep I'd love to make the move back to Original USA Mac..A Nice tube Power amp and a Preamp. I sold my old 240 and I think it was a MC2300 Preamp.
I always loved the sound of tubes.

One thing most Audio guys are not familiar with is Transistor Cross Over distortion. Hence the Class A Amp. Letting one PNP or NPN handle the + wave and the Negative wave..

But they are low power amps. The traditional PNP NPN amps share each part of the wave. One has to come down while the other goes up. Hence The crossover distortion.

With Tubes....There ain't None. it just full speed ahead. and great sound. The only limiting factor is the output transformer. But even then tubes ROCK!

Maybe it prodded enough..I might make some kind of move to tubes. But I have to stay away from you guys with the House Mortgage Size Audio gear.

Flew from Subic to Clark in a C47 sitting on a locker-room bench (with 4 others) holding on to cargo straps for take-off & landing (so we did not slide). Bet we were never 1000' over the rice paddies. Some 'exciting' times in Olongapo City. Young & dumb.

My Nikon F1 and Rolex also came from the Subic Bay PX. Hazardous duty pay & no taxes certainly helped with our purchases.
