So my statement was not spoken to any musical universality but rather to a personal preference.

It's kind of an anomaly, Wilson speakers I have long heralded as the best I have ever heard and when I listened to this album I immediately recognized that Wilson sound. Yet, as I posted, I had to abandon play before it's completion.

I firmly believe that there is good music and there is great music, there is no bad music, so I meant nothing disparaging.
No worries. While its an internet forum, what I observe of this thread is it's more about brief sharing of your listening choices, good, bad, or otherwise. The Wilson recordings are known primarily for their overall clarity. While some tunes may be more popular than others, wouldn't it be surprising to find anything couched as universally appealing? Here's one that I like:

Mozart - Complete sonatas for keyboard and violin - Volume 3
Gary Cooper & Rachel Podger

These absolutely wonderful masterpieces (I almost literally melt when I hear KV 380) are played in a delightful way.

Default Missa solemnis

Currently spinning the Klemperer recording of Beethoven's "Missa Solemnis" - perhaps my favorite piece of all time.

Klemperer's majestic reading of the score, fabulous soloists, ravishing and lush orchestral playing seamlessly brings together Beethoven's problematic score and finally makes sense of the piece in a way that few conductors can - or do.

The only recording I've heard to rival it is George Szell's miraculous love performance from 1967 which is marred by poor sound quality and intonation issues. It's a recording that I love and treasure as well, but not one that I would recommend for those of you wanting to hear a clean performance.

It's on my "wishlist".

I have the Debussy, Bartok, Brahms piano/violin sonatas release from these artists and really enjoyed it.

last disc in this set... I think most here enjoy La Petite Bande and this set which many here have on individual discs let's no one down.

I am disappointed in the packaging however.

Default Concerto Köln

After exploring some of Evaristo Dall'Abaco's music in an earlier post, I found this 6-disc box set featuring less well-known composers spanning the 17th and 18th centuries.

Concerto Köln play the Music of Dall'Abaco, Locatelli, Vanhal, Kozeluch and Eberl

A bargain at $18.75 for 6 discs.

Stating off with disc 1 which features concerti by Dall'Abaco. Vigorous playing by the conductorless Concerto Köln. The recorded sound on this disc is natural but I wished It had more bite.
