Aesthetix Rhea phono preamp
It has been suggested I consider a Aesthetix Rhea phono preamplifier. Used, these are in the $2600 to $2800 range. I have read a number of reviews on the Rhea, and all seem quite positive on it's performance. It provides a number of features that are interesting, like three turntable inputs, balanced outputs, remote control, memory section for all settings and independent for three turntables, and an upgrade path to full Rhea Signature status if desired. It is also available in black.
I have heard the Aesthetix Rhea Signature in Ivan's Cape Cod two channel system. Although the Teflon caps were a long ways from being broken in, the Signature model had excellent sound. User comments would be appreciated.

Dan... I'll toss out a few more comments; aside from what you already mentioned. I love being able to change loading and gain on "the fly". I also enjoy the mute switch, and being able to dim or shut off all the front panel lights. All this can be done with the remote as well.
As far as sound goes, I couldn't be happier. The Phono Pre "pool" is very deep one, as you know. I feel like the Rhea was made to my specs, as it does exactly what I want it to, and does it very well.

Dan.....the Rhea is a great unit, flexible, inputs for three tonearms and responds well to swapping tubes.....a cool feature the Rhea has is the removable top, no screws to remove, takes only a second to remove so swapping out tubes is a breeze. Being the Rhea sports 10 tubes you really can fine fine tune the sound to your desire. If your after a used one check and make sure its a later unit as Jim White made some minor changes......

Dan.....When the Rhea was first introduced there were some issues with tube noise that a few individuals had, Jim White took care of the issues and offered the fix for free to the ones that encounterd issues. I also believe he had made a change in the manufacture of tubes he was using because of them not being reliable so it was more to do with the tubes......in your searching you will come across some posts regarding the issues but also run across way more that are happy....its funning that sometimes one bad post can stand out more than 20 good posts!......you should call Garth of musical surroundings or better yet give Aesthetix a call they can fill you in on the issues first hand.....this is going back 5-6 years when they encountered the problem......I would say there gear is as reliable as any top manufacture out there and if I were to bet who has the better customer service and being quicker to correct a problem if you were to encounter one I would say Aesthetix would be at the top of the list and even more so then some of the other gear you own.....I remember you having a issue with the room correction thingy and as I recall it took a bit of time but at the end you were happy.....if you feel the Aesthetix gear is unreliable because of a few posts you read then so be it but its absolutly untrue, there gear is reliable as anything you and I own IMO.....Anyway all the phono stages your looking at are great contenders and have had most of the one's in my system you have posted about, they all bring something great to the table and will match up fine with your analog rig.....happy hunting

Jeff.......Thank you for the clarification, and history on the Aesthetix reliability issues I read about. I would agree with you that bad news gets the most press. The Rhea certainly offers the greatest flexibility and user options for future growth. I like the remote control as well. I may have to give the Aesthetix Rhea a closer look. Once I read a couple negative comments I discounted it to some degree. Great sound is paramount, but reliability is a very close second.
