Hello and welcome nowayman1,

To answer your questions:

On the iPad app you get part of the Focus features, you can Swim (random play) a saved Focus from the iPad app but you can't search through a Focus like you can from a Control 10/15. Unfortunately you need a Control 10/15 to save a Focus but you can add tags to the metadata using your PC, these tags can be Focused in Swim mode from the iPad app.

You can only see multiple album covers when using a Control 10/15, the iPad app will only show the album cover for what is playing.

The iPad app is only vertical, there is no way to landscape it as far as I know.

I haven't seen a vidio showing the iPad app but it is very fast and smooth.

I'm sure you will enjoy the MC200 but to get the full benefit of the Sooloos interface you will need a Control 10/15, you could always add that later.

You beat me to the punch with your post, Victor.

Welcome, nowayman1! I have not ever seen a video of the iPad or iPhone app either. I can say that it is very slick!

You can also use the Control PC or Control Mac application on your computer to control an MC200 on the same network as well as to import albums into the library stored on your MC200. The Control PC or Mac application is also the best place (and only place in the case of an MC200 only system) to update any metadata for your albums and to add higher resolution versions of the album cover art tha the 200x200 versions that the Sooloos Metadata Service supplies.

Also, from the User Guide for the MC200 found on Meridian's Sooloos Support website, Meridian is coming out with a "Sooloos Configuration Application" that will run on your PC or Mac and will allow you to adjust the settings on the MC200 that are otherwise only adjustable from a Control 10 or 15 on the same network.

I am getting an MC200 myself to use with my downstairs system, but my dealer tells me it is not due to arrive for another week or so. I look forward to you posting your impressions of your new unit.

Thanks for the replies guys! I really appreciate the detailed help you all go into!!!

I know that I wont get the total package in terms of the GUI with the ipad but I cant really have a C15 in my room. I wonder if its technically possible to upgrade the ipad app to later on include the extra features missing.

So with the ipad app you have to read all the tracks from a list and not album art? That sucks a bit..... All I want to be able to do is navigate my music well and discover content I had previously forgot about.

Do you think the ipad sooloos experience will deliver that?

The iPad app has a list of categories in the bottom half of the screen where you can select a category type, such as artist, album, genre, etc. After you select one by touching it, it brings up a list of the available choices within that category. So, you are not able to browse by album cover as you do with a Control 10 or 15. However, once you do select an album, its cover art does appear in the upper left corner of the screen.

I would think that it is technically possible to have the Sooloos app modified by its programmers to offer cover art browsing since an iPad can do so in its native iPod app.

I don't think you will have any trouble using the existing Sooloos app to "navigate your music well and discover content you had previously forgotten about." It really does work just fine, with only the two limitations of not letting you set "focuses" and not providing browsing by album cover art. In other ways, it can actually be easier to use than the Control 10 or 15 screen when setting up a queue of songs "on the fly."

Can anyone here remember how many times meridian have updated the solos app for iPad since it was first released?

Have there been any incremental changes/enhancement to the interface?

Could be something to perhaps look forward to as I'm sure that they are constantly improving and refining the experience.

Can anyone remember functions that are now present that wernt when they first got their solos system?

I've had my Sooloos system for 8 months and I first downloaded the iPad app about 9 months ago (when I ordered my Sooloos). In the last 9 months there has not been any updates for the app.

I'm hoping they do update the app but I'm not holding my breath on it.

If you will go to the iTunes store, search for Sooloos, and then click on the "More" link, it will bring up a page with screen shots of the iPad version.

It also says that the current version was released May 27, 2010, and this version added iPad support. So as Victor said, this is the only iPad interface that has been out.
