Unfortunately it misses 1 AES/EBU and 1 more coax and 1 more optical input.

What does it bring more than the DA2 module included in newer preamps?

That could be difficult to tell without listening. But for sure, the MDA200 is an option for those who prefer preamps that don't contain a DAC.

Or Tube preamps. I don't think McIntosh puts Dacs in their Tube amps

I stand corrected . The MA 1200 Integrated Amp with tubes does have the digital module.

I like the concept of an upgradable stand alone DAC, it's about time they did this.

Yeah, I believe the DA2 uses the ESS 9028pro.
