Powering off MC500 power amp
I have a C48 preamp and an MC500 power amp. The C48 has a remote control and I can turn it off but the power amp is always on.
Can I connect a 1/8" mini cable between the amp and preamp so that the remote will turn off both components? The C48 has power controls on the back Thanks

Yes you should be able to do that. I believe the MC500 has power control on that back.

Yes. If you do not have the MC500 owner's manual, which gives complete info on the needed cable & connections, you can google same and find available from several sources, including McIntosh Parts.

I have the service manual for the MC500 but could never find any other user type manual. I have the user manual for the C48 but do not find the connection explanation very clear. Thanks

The MC500 is a great piece. Easily the best of McIntosh's vintage amps to my ears.

Yup, I love it. I have never looked at anything else since acquiring it. I am going to perform surgery this winter and replace all the burned out panel lamps. I have OEM incandescent replacements.
