EK is a long standing Wilson man, so he still prefers the Alexia, but only just.

Although he did concede that the D4's do some things better - and that he would have no problems living with them. At this level it boils down to personal preference.

So, I'm also looking forward to your comparison!

EK's official review will be released in a few weeks, but I was invited for a lunch recently and spent a long and very pleasant afternoon in the listening room. My judgement was probably clouded by the Shiraz and Pinot consumed, but these are undoubtedly very fine loudspeakers.

There's really no detectible area of weakness. If they're not quite able to match the 801D4's amazing dynamic capability, low frequency authority and extension at the frequency extremes, they counter that with amazing mid frequency accuracy and definition, precise imaging and depth of stage.

They also look magnificent and don't occupy a huge amount of floorspace.

If I was to assign a score out of 10, 801D4's are 9 and Estelon's 8.5, but at this level it's very subjective.

Maybe this has been addressed... but is the crossover freq different on the 801d4 vs 802d4?

What’s this about silver vs copper on those 2 models?

For those who intend to purchase a D4 model; there will be a price increase as of January 2022.

I thought B&W had a good track record of not raising prices over the years. I understand only a few models did get increases.

Last week my dealer told me that the 801D4 would get a price increase from 35K to 38K and the 802D4 from 26K to 28K, both in Euro currency.
So this applies to continental Europe; I don't know about the rest of the world. I didn't ask about the other models because I am not interested in those ones.

The other thing is that apparently it will take weeks, if not months, before they will be delivered to the customers. Demo models for the dealers seem to have a higher priority.

Was there ever an official explanation given by B&W or passed onto dealers to pass onto customers as to why the center channels seem to be limited to the 2 painted options and are not being offered in the veneers?
