Yes, Audio Consultants original store was in Evanston which opened in 1967. They later opened additional stores in Libertyville, Hinsdale, Chicago but ceased operation in January 2020.

Graham owns it, and Victor is a sales person. Both are extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

Now that Audio Consultants is gone it is effectively impossible to audition a new B&W speaker in Chicago. Talk about depressing! I believe Audio Consultants was the first B&W dealer in North America. B&W did not do stores like Audio Consultants any favors when they put them in Magnolia stores all over the place. The speakers are still remarkable of course but without a good brick and mortar dealer I have to admit some appeal is lost.

I agree. But B&W, boutique dealers, and even Magnolia are all in an incredibly tight bind as both hifi and brick & mortar retail shrink. I'm still lucky enough to have a great boutique near me, and I buy whatever I can from them. But the Magnolia near me has excellent listening rooms, I think they are worth a visit in the absence of a real dealer.

BTW, and with all due respect--between this post and your "deficiencies...require" on the other thread--you sound like me when I'm trying to avoid pulling the trigger (which is always, haha). Go ahead--it will only hurt for a moment!

Sorry to hear about Audio Consultants. I was up in Gurnee, IL and noticed that the small shop they had was closed.

You will enjoy the ride from Chicago to Indy. I personally drive the route several times a month.

Audio Solutions sits in the middle of the Broad Ripple community a very hip and trendy area of north Indy. Butler University is minutes away.

They have more equipment on display from new to trade-in than Audio Consultants ever had or wished they had in both of their stores.

I think my point is I like my 802D3 so much it is hard to imagine the improvement. I had the 802D1 and that was not the case.
