Thanks. Your review is helpful. The Esoteric K1 sounds awesome.

I believe Harmony can be learn or programmed from other remote IR the old fashion way too. By face-to-face both remote controllers.

Your comments on the remotes are spot on. Esoteric remotes are an embarrassment to the brand. One comment on relative prices: in the US, the K1 was over 2X the D-08u; the D-08u was about 25% more than the K-03X.

I also got new K05Xs , same bad remote, but sound pretty good. I have no complain for the sound.

I happened to meet Esoteric staff during the K1X demo in Japan last week. I asked this question to him.
He said the remote control use old chip or something so it cannot be programmed for any more commands.
And he told me they tried the ON/OFF things with remote, mechanical front panel switch sounds better to them. But hey new generAtion players can shut itself down when not in use for a certain period of time , is it?
So that is not mechanical switch anymore.

Construction looks a lot more sturdier than the D-08u, like a tank!

Luxman will release a new flagship model "D-10X" for SACD / CD players in late December. The price is 1,200,000 yen (excluding tax). The color is blaster white.

"D-10X"

This model is the successor to the "D-08u" released in March 2014. While following the left side mechanism configuration that realizes an ideal signal path from reading to output, we are upgrading by introducing the highest spec parts and the latest technology.

The disk drive unit has been changed from "LxDTM", which features a box structure that tightly encloses the mechanism to a combination of an 8mm-thick aluminum side frame that penetrates from the front to the rear end, and a 5mm-thick steel top plate, to the new "LxDTM-i" And change.

This means that the mechanical mounting part has been changed from the conventional method of supporting to the side frame to an integrated structure that penetrates the frame, further improving the characteristics of rigidly blocking external vibrations. Assume that the reading accuracy has been dramatically improved by synergistic effects with the newly adopted mechanism that has improved basic performance.

Rear part

In addition, the left side mechanism layout with an asymmetric configuration that ensures the volume of the analog circuit and the ideal flow of various signals, vibration paths, and weight balance is adopted for the general center mechanism structure. It also has a dust proof shutter that features precise operation with excellent dust proofing and quietness.

The D / A converter adopts the world's first latest ROHM high-quality audio DAC “MUS-IC BD34301EKV” for dual sound (as of November 2019) and is in mono mode independent of L / R. Make it work.

USB input supports up to PCM 768kHz / 32bit, DSD 22.4MHz / 1bit. S / PDIF input supports up to PCM 192kHz / 24bit. Full decoding is also supported for MQA (MQA-CD / MQA file) playback.

In addition, a new ultra-low phase noise clock module with high accuracy and low jitter that reduces noise near the oscillation frequency, and a 2-mode analog FIR filter that can be adjusted to the desired sound quality during SACD / DSD file playback. Yes.

The analog circuit is equipped with "ODNF-u", an evolution version of "ODNF", which is the core of the company's amplifier circuit technology, in a fully balanced configuration. Without having an independent output filter block, a gentle band processing with a primary filter × 3 is performed inside the ODNF circuit, realizing a natural analog waveform reproduction and improved error detection accuracy, high frequency Appealing that he has gained more expressive power with a more dynamic and dynamic feeling across the entire band.

In the power supply section, a high-inertia power environment is constructed from a large power transformer through a circuit-independent regulator and a large-capacity block capacitor.

The analog output terminal adopts copper alloy high-quality RCA terminal x 1 that has both copper conductivity and brass hardness, and Neutrik high-grade XLR terminal x 1. The digital input is equipped with one USB and RCA coax and two optical TOS, and the digital output is equipped with one RCA coax and one optical TOS.

Frequency characteristics are 5Hz-20kHz (CD: +0, 1.0dB), 5Hz-50kHz (SACD: +0, 3.0dB), 2Hz-50kHz (USB: +0, 3.0dB). Total harmonic distortion / SN ratio (IHF-A) is 0.0015% / 123dB (CD), 0.0011% / 106dB (SACD), 0.0009% / 123dB (USB). The external dimensions are 440W x 154H x 418Dmm and the mass is 22.4kg.
