Lasik Patients Should Be Warned of Complications, F.D.A. Draft Says
`
NYT Dec. 7, 2022 Updated Dec. 8, 2022 "If put into effect, the agency’s warnings are likely to come as a surprise to many Americans, who view the procedure as safe and commonplace. Every year, more than half a million adults undergo Lasik surgery to correct poor vision." "The F.D.A. guidance has been in the making for over a decade. The document states briefly that the surgery is done to reduce dependency on eyeglasses, but most of the 29-page draft guidance is about the risks." "Even after healing, the draft says, the cornea will never be as strong as it was before the surgery." https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/07/h...uries-fda.html __________________ Taking a chance with your eyes, your e y e s, however slight, just so you don't have to wear glasses. .

I had Lasik done 20 years ago and cataracts done this year. Cataract procedure was complicated due to Lasik and was not the outcome that I had so hoped for. If I could go back in time I would skip the Lasik and continue with my contact lenses and glasses routine.
FWIW I can't read the link posted as they want me to "sign in" to continue. I won't sign in because I feel the NY Times does not need to know my info |

I know someone who had Lasik surgery. He came out with blurred vision like before he had it. The only thing that changed was his eyeglass prescription, which meant a new pair of glasses.
Ditto on the NYT - BTW.

Mine has been great since having it done back in 2001, however, sometimes if I sleep on my face, I can wake up and it takes my eye an hour or so to clear up. I don't know if it's related, but it's a pretty big drag.
