Once I am comfortable with the sound improvement from putting my amps on the Cyclops, I will move the Alpha from the Blueray player to the BDP1.
The Alpha Digital is a good cable for the DAC also. You definitely want it on the Server/computer. Some DACs will sound best with the Alpha Digital and others may sound better with a Cobra - it will be very device dependent.

Oh no! Stock power cord equipment abuse.

I am at the point now where if I order a new piece of gear I automatically order a Zytron power cord to go with it. I don't even waste time listening to it with the stock cord. It increases the initial purchase price, but since I will eventually do it anyway I may as well get the best performance right from the start.

Can't argue with that philosophy!

Hi Mike,

Regarding your RMAF question, our products will be in a number of rooms at RMAF, including that of our Denver area dealer, Crescendo, as well as VAC's room and the Long's Peak room on the Mezzanine, which we will share with On A Higher Note, the US distributor of Luxman and Vivid. I will be in the Vivid and Luxman room both Friday and Saturday if you care to come by for a visit. Hopefully we'll see you there!

Grant

I noted the Venom HC is thicker than the regular Venom. Is it a heavier gauge?

The VENOM-3 is a 12AWG power cord and is designed for source components and small integrated amps. The VENOM-HC is a higher current version of the VENOM-3 and is constructed from 10AWG conductors. It was designed primarily as a high performance cord for our power distributors like the VENOM PS8. This of course makes it ideal as a cord for high current power amplifiers.

It is significantly larger in diameter but still flexible.

That sounds good. Is there any problem, in theory, with using the 12AWG Venom extension with it?

There are no problems from an operational point of view and you said that your immediate goals were aesthetic and not performance.

However, from a performance perspective it is less than ideal. As I have said many times, the best PC in your system should be the one powering the power distributor. You have a long distance to travel for this cord and have chosen to use the extension cable which is not a problem in itself but using a 12 gauge extension to a 10 gauge PC will not perform as well as a custom made to length PC. If you are happy with the sound of your system, I wouldn't sweat it.
