PC pimping out the Orient Black Ray

I mentioned in my other Orient mystery watch post that I also bought an Orient Black Ray when I bought my Blue Ray.

My Orient Ray self-wind mechanicals have become my daily wearer for their clean, classic looks looks and their legibility...but something was missing....hmm.

These watches are so beautifully manufactured and polished that they could definitely go up-scale with a really nice strap, so I thought the Black Ray would really benefit from a tan leather strap.

I ending up getting an alligator pattern tan leather strap from Strapped for Time that utilizes a polished stainless steel Omega-style deployant clasp.

I got the strap yesterday and Strapped for Time was kind enough to have pre-installed the Omega-style deployant clasp.

Overall, I like the looks of this watch very much more now with the tan leather strap. The Omega-style deployant clasp adds a sleek, modern touch that is nicer than the standard buckle. The strap tapers from 22m wide at the lugs to 18mm at the buckle, and the tapered and slimmer profile to the strap lends an elegant line to the watch that is much more becoming than the straight-width steel braclet.

Would love to know what you guys think.

Looks good! Now let's get your lingo right as well. In watch circles it's not pimped out, its the Ray got new shoes. But why shoes? Seems more like a belt to me......

Thanks, Dan. I like the watch much better with this band; more comfortable and a more upsale look. Funny how just changing a strap can entirely change the experience of wearing a watch.

The Orient Ray is quite reminiscent of the Tag Heuer Aquaracer Caliber 5 in appearance.

Thanks, Don. Yeah, shoes seems strange; still learning watch lingo. At least I know the terms "strap" and "bracelet"!

I'll have to take your word for that I 'm not a watch collector beyond owning a Submariner I like .

OTOH the lure of the hobby hasen't escaped me by any means .

I can drool over a nice watch that's no lie and I've lurked now and then and posted very ocasionaly at a couple of collector forumsI think one is Time Zone >Rolex sub forum >submariner maybe ? Interesting and cool hobby IMO.
