piolaxo, thank you so much! I paid for the 3500 today at the dealer. Checking with Mac, they begin building and shipping in December. I have done all I can, by prepaying and even asked Mac to expedite but probably neither will help. I'll be offline the remainder of week.

Best

Charles

Congratulations my friend, I think you've given yourself the best tube amps made by McIntosh!
Amazing!

One question:
wouldn't it have been better (for your monstrous speakers) to double down with another pair of McIntosh MC 1.25KW?

Of course, nothing prevents you from not doing it now, ehehehe...
The Wilson tri-amped with two 1.25KW (1 for the bass, one for the mid) and a 3500MKII for the highs!
Audio Nirvana!!

McIntosh-maTRIX, Wilson's cannot be bi or tri-amped. Thank you so much for the compliment. Yes, I believe you are correct in your assessment of the 3500 MKII. It is a highly advanced super high power tube amp (500+ watts/ch) in a compact chassis weighing only 121 lbs. When Mac wants to flex its muscle, they often surprise with unique gear like the 901, C12000, and 3500 MKII. I'm amazed at the specifications of this amp, especially the S/N ratio and power output.

Having an extra pair of 1.25's would allow me to add an additional Thor and sell the additional 1.25. I have the space to do it. But I recently added a plinth to raise my Thor off the floor and the improvement in my bass has been spectacular. So the 1.25's will be silent for the foreseeable future.

In general, stereo subs trump a mono sub, but not always. For my recent plinth installation go to the Wilson Forum. I love the horizontal lie and the in plane precisely between the XVX placement. This cannot be achieved with stereo subs which must be near the corners behind the XVX and out of plane.

Since my LP is 30 Hz and with the Thor exactly between the XVX I see no advantage with stereo subs for me. I'm going to wait for the D1200 and in the meantime, enjoy the new amps and plinth.

Again thank you for the comment/compliment.

Best

Charles

Charles, do you have an anticipated delivery date yet?

My MC1502 should be here in about a week. Or so I'm told.

I did not think that a speaker of that level and above all cost, did not have this option...
Take it as a good provocation:
a pair of Boulder 3050 Mono Amplifiers?

I wouldn't, you would just add low frequencies, albeit super faithful, to your room.

They are truly marvelous amps, maybe the world's best and certainly worthy of the XVX.

Best

Freddie, I don't think anyone knows. I have done what I can to request an early unit. My custom granite slabs are in my garage longing for their 3500's. I know you made the right decision on the 1502. It is a marvelous amp.

Best

That's some fine looking stone there. Your 3500's are going to look great sitting on top of them.

My amp stand is supposed to be delivered today. Spoiler Alert: I went cheap since the 1502 and interconnects taxed my finances enough.

I had a 1502 and regret selling it. Just my opinion…..I think the 1502 and 312 are two of the best Mc amps right now. Both are stellar. Enjoy!
