Advice, please
My system has Shunyata Triton feeding all sources, and Shunyata Hydra Alpha Two feeding mono blocs. All power cords are Shunyata Anaconda Alpha to analog components and Anaconda VX to digital components. I also have two Hydra HC and one Python CX feeding less critical components. Now my quandary is that I would like to gradually upgrade my dated Shunyata power cables to new Zitron power cords. I also would love to add a Typhon unit to my Triton. Now all of this will cost a massive amount of coin, but as I see it this is the only area I could upgrade in my system, the rest being top of the line equipment which I am supremely happy with. Should I swap out my Anacondas for new Anacondra Zitrons or will Python Zitrons be more than enough in terms of significant improvement over what I have? Are Zitrons really so much superior to previous lines of Shunyata equipment. Also, should I buy Thphon first, before power cords or after new power cords are installed? Are my Anaconda Alpha cords suitable for connection to Typhon. Thanks!!

I would add the Typhon first and then evaluate.

What about trying one Anaconda Zitron for your Triton? I think that will answer your questions...

I've upgraded from various Shunyata power cords, signal cables, and Hydras and tried them all in different combinations. With what you have now, making further upgrades will yield both incremental and genuine improvements. Here are my suggestions based on a bang for the buck approach: Start by adding a ZiTron Anaconda to your Triton. Follow that with the Typhon, coupling it to the Triton with a ZiTron Anaconda umbilical. Dollar for dollar this combo will yield the greatest improvement in distortion reduction for your existing system - more so than immediately upgrading the other power cords. With the Typhon in place you'll be best prepared to gauge the impact of other changes. Next, evaluate how you use the power cords you already have by trying them on different components. Take your time and explore your music collection anew. If the physical layout of your system allows, evaluate running your amp through the Triton+Typhon. That system with which you are supremely satisfied is even better than you think it is. Next, I suggest evaluating the ZiTron Python speaker cables. Ime, these will make a larger overall impact than switching out your existing Shunyata power cords. There is only one other signal cable with similar distortion reducing technology and it is not the equal of the Shunyata - the technology advance here is very real. Next, you could go a couple different directions. One would be to put ZiTron Pythons on your front-end gear one-at-a-time, starting with your digital equipment. Another would be to try a ZiTron Python signal cable on that same digital front-end component. Again, with the Hydra stack in place, you'll easily be able to gauge which is the higher priority for you. All in all, big fun lies ahead! Last edited by tima; 06-01-2013 at 11:43 PM. |

Thanks!
Tina, your considered advice comes from experience, and I value it highly. Sounds like a good blueprint for my situation. Overall you imply that taking care of power conditioning is first priority and Zitrons to sources are less remarkable.O.K. Thanks!

I recently switched my Talos for an AV, too soon to tell the difference. I have yet to hear the Typhon. Mike S. |

The very first thing I would do is plug your monoblocs into the Triton.

I concur with starting with a typhon, anaconda umbilical, then I would go with cyclops on the mono amps.
Then, zitron anaconda on both triton and cyclops, then assess. 1. Typhon, anaconda umbilical 2. Cyclops on mono-amps 3. Anaconda Zitron feed on both Triton and Cyclops Last edited by Crion; 07-13-2013 at 05:41 PM. Reason: Clarification |

Great suggestions above... I'd also consider starting with a Z Anaconda for feed for your Triton, then I'd try Stillpoint Ultra SS under the Triton... Them I'd either go with Tima's thoughts on a Typhon and Z Anaconda umbilical or just swap out the source cables with Z Pythons. I have had a large improvement in extension and timbre following through the Z Anacondas as feed cables and then all the rest of the components with Z Pythons after the conditioners.
I'd probably leave the monos out of the Triton until you got a Typhon but I can say a Cyclops to replace the Hydra Alpha might be worth a shot down the track but first I'd go with a Z Anaconda to feed that Hydra Alpha or just go straight to the Typhon. Doing any of the above thoughts from everyone is going to result in a lasting progressive improvement in the structure of your system. Great journey no matter which we you go. |
