To be fair, since these were hotel rooms and not dedicated listening rooms, I won't bash any brand(too bad). But there were some great sounding rigs and some not so great sounding rigs.

My favorite was split 3 ways.

TAD and Atma-sphere electronics's room sounded excellent. Perfect sized speaker for the room, great imaging and soundstaging, great tonality and balance top to bottom. Only thing making it not perfect was the lack of the lowest octaves, but due to the room size, probably worked in it's favor.

Revel and Mark Levinson also sounded excellent. Again, great imaging and soundstaging, great extension from top to bottom, and also very dynamic.

Joseph Audio and Bel Canto sounded great too. Great punch and dynamics from a little pair of monitors. To my ears, they were the most coherent out of anything there.

Others worth mentioning.

Linkwitz Labs and Bryston sounded good, due to their open baffle/dipole nature had a nice soundfield too, but were a little too rolled off up top and lacked dynamics.

MBL rocked, they had the best bass out of any room. They also had a nice sound overall and were fun to listen to.

Steinway Lyngdorf sounded great for a satellite/sub setup. Great bass, the blending between the subs and satellites was seamless, and a nice sound overall too.
Those TAD monitors sure are expensive at $37k! Thanks for the pics and your impressions Mike.

Far and away THE WORST name for an audio show ever devised since Homo sapiens have inhabited this planet.

We need something like Montreal's Salon du Son et Image...now that's class.

Hope having AXPONA in June doesn't put a crimp on next month's CA Audio Show in the Bay Area.

Heard the TADs with Technical Brain gear at RMAF and they were amazing. So was the Technical Brain gear...sheesh, it was good.
