Hi MasterLu/Bart/Jim,
Let me try to be as open, although I know one day some answers here, seen by my wife, will get me an earful. 1. The Samsung 65 inch TV was bought 6 years back (together with the 88 inches at the hall). Reason used was I will watch concerts at quite a loud level and being shut out in my small room would minimise any disturbances to my daughters who may be studying. Well, Honestly, the TV did not clock more than 20 hours! Most times I was listening to the 3 changes of systems, first the Raidho 3.1, then the Wilson Alexia & now the Avantgarde XD's. Bart, hope your question is answered. And yes if I do watch TV (outside with my family on the big screen, there will be subtitles - cause only my eldest daughter understand (speak and read Korean) when we watched Korean Soap Serials. Still, subtitles are great as it provides a clear understanding of what I may have heard wrongly. 2. As for the CD's they were accumulated thru the years, and long before I know the place known as HD Tracks, which Ive only discovered 2 years back. BUT I still buy some SACD's and now MQA discs as I do find them a tad bit better than the files in my Roon Nucleus+. Could be just the mind playing tricks on the ears. 3. The same fate applies to my LPs collection. Please don't laugh as I have only played not more than 20 of them while the rest are still sealed and properly jacketed. Just on titles/count, I think I will never be able to listen the balance 2.3k of them. My wife had since caught me on this when she question why I am still buying (especially all the SRX/Tone Poet/1-Step Recording/Limited Editions). She told me to just sieve thru those that I really, really wanted to keep (for whatever valid reasons, like nostalgia, etc) and she will help me post them on Amazon to sell them off. I am still avoiding this. And yes, I have Compulsive Disorder. Ha Ha. As for retirement, its a big change to lifestyle, where for once, I was a lost soul not knowing why I woke up and just walk, sleep and listen/watch music and movies. I am still adjusting. Ivan, thanks for posting my humble system (and for this, I do remember my dear friend Dan who had been so kind to help all these years.) Its another big big adjustment for me as I do call him once a while to chat when going to work in the wee hours (6 am) of the morning when I am in Singapore. Jim, I am sure when the lock down is open, we will get two meet again. Meanwhile, I am counting the monies I am getting back from my vinyl sale and see if they will go into the next upgrade - should I move home again. Counting the chickens before they are hatched. Thats all the update. Cheers

Jerry... I liked that post.
Thank you for sharing. I recognised a lot of things you wrote as traits of my own. Ha! I'm looking forward to your experiences with your new gear. Warm greetings!

I hope those CD's were put on the Roon Nucleus first. But a great setup!

Hi Friends,
It's been almost a year since Ive last posted. First, I must apologise to 'clpeterson' for not answering his question. Yes, the CD's were ripped and stored in the Roon Nucleus+ and indeed they were rarely played at all, except for those SACD/MQA CD that Ive stored near the bottom for easy retrieval. Most times, I buy from HD Tracks if a piece caught my attention unless its not available, then I look for the CD in Amazon/Elusive. The Luxman D-10X built-in DAC really makes the files listening a true great experience. Apart from that, no new gears had been added, except the purchase of a share set of Takatsuki 300B tubes as understand the smaller tubes last much longer than 5000 playing hours than the 300B's. I did consider the WE 300B's but in the end still opt for the more familiar Takatsuki. Recently, I've been diagnosed having Diabetic B and am now on a very strict diet and medication, hopefully able to revert the situation in a year's time, as well as improving my BP which had also shot up. I am now living my life like a cow, eating mostly veggies and devoid off almost all good things in life, like meat, fruits (ok, a banana/apple a day), favourite drinks like Coke. Made me realised the Chinese saying that Health is Wealth and being able to eat anything one desire is the greatest blessing is true. Because of the Covid situation and my age, coming 68 this October, I was advised not to go out unless necessary to avoid catching the virus which can be fatal. I had a long time friend since school days (1970's) who passed off Oct last year because of this. Occasionally, I have been able to expose myself to gears I've not seen before and yes, of course, the itch does comes in. However, I was able to control it because of the room size I have, the problem to justify the spending and more so, the current system is already so good. IF only I have a bigger room ... then the itch can bite on. Noticed the gears were not discussed in this forum ... although there is a Japanese Made Gears discussion. New Luxman is coming in (C-10x replacing current C-900), PLINIUM amps, Takio Audio SGX Extreme Server (can be a Roon Nucleus+ alternative), Kondo Amps, Robert Koda amps, Gobel speakers and the latest going to be released Avantgarde Trio G3/Spacehorns. Apart from the Avantgarde, Ive heard all these gears and I must say they are not only exquisitely built, sound wonderful with a, sorry to use this term 'ridiculously' priced. Of course, if one has the means, why not? Then its back home to my small room where my humble system still sounded musical and more importantly, the itch wore off. I wish everyone here a healthy and fruitful life everyday. I've started reading the posts in this forum and will try to contribute constructively if needed. Stay safe, Stay Healthy everyone. Cheers!
