Paul,
Shindo preamplifiers work with a wide range of power amps. I would say that 90 % of the Shindo bliss in electronics is in the preamp. Best way to start with Shindo is then at the preamplifier level. McIntosh preamps, even at the level of the C1000 are imho very far from the sound of a Shindo preamplifier. If you can try one side by side with the 2300, you will be very surprised....
