Calling all HD800 owners
I find that the HD800 is very hard to pair. I've tried a few amps and headphone outs, but have not found one I really liked. So far, McIntosh C22ce headphone out sounds pretty good with it.
What are you using with your HD800? List of gear I've used. - McIntosh C22ce headphone out (best sound so far, smooth and well balanced, but lacking punch) - PS Audio GCHA headphone amp (not a good match, slow and dull) *** very disappointed because of its price tag $999 *** - Denon PMA2000ivr integrated amp (my second choice, nice punch, but lacking warth) - Bellari HA540 headphone amp with Mullard 12AX7 (third choice, a lacks bass and too much sparkle) - Sony CDp_XA7es headphone out (not a good match, harsh)

The HD800 are very good headphones. Was at the local dealer and he recommended the Lehmann Linear OR Linear USB to match. I wont call that cheap cause its about US$1.1k.
Was told that this IS the head amp used to pair off with the HD800 whenever they had a show. Heard it, like it BUT dont know if I would ever need one as I simply love my system today!  Hope this info would be of help. Cheers!

Yeah, I read that the Lehmann BCL is the shit with the HD800. At $1149 (retail) or $973 (lowest I've found), it is not a cheap amp.
Ivan, any desire to try one with your HD800? Perhaps you can give me your opinion on it before I buy.

DJ.......I use the Gilmore Lite Headphone Amplifier with my Sennheiser HD600. It is a solid state Class A amplifier with an external Elpac regulated power supply. Mine has given me years of headphone listening pleasure. It is ultra quiet, very detailed, and quite powerful. You may be able to find one on eBay or Audiogon. I found a good Cyber Monday deal on the Lehmann Black Cube Linear. It should arrive Friday. I'll report back on how it sounds with the HD800. If it sucks too, the HD800 may hit the used market.

I use both the RSA B-52 and EAR HP-4. I also have the best Stefan Audio Art Endorphin cables, and I am acheiving sound I thought not possible. Don't lose hope!
