In yesterday's interview with LH, he says that he likes the challenge
(and the extra money, but he didn't mention that) to develop an
under performing car and take it to the top. Schu did this with Ferrari
and it was a magical thing to witness. That in itself is a big motivation.
If things come to someone very easily, they are not valued enough.
He also needs a change of air to get motivated.

Mercedes is building a team that looks awfully familiar to what Ross Brawn
assembled while at Ferrari. They need a year or two, but they become fast.

Not sure if anyone caught this on the closing segment of Speeds last Formula One Telecast, but Steve Matchett and David Hobbs will be moving to NBC Sports Group Formula One broadcasts with play by play from Leigh Diffey.

We'll see how things shake out in a few months.

Best

Bob

Missed that...shame, I like Bob Varsha. Don't know Leigh Diffey. Exciting race, today...

Oh no, LD gets on my nerves something terrible, to the point of turning the sound off.

I missed that also
When Diffey subs for Varsha it's not the same but lets see what he'll do with a full season of broadcasts.
I have a feeling he'll be a bit edgier and that will be great

The Speed TV crew was together for 17 or so years. Provided terrific F1 coverage and analysis. Too bad Bob is staying back at Speed which surprises since it is supposed to shut down or change programming next year.

It was a somewhat sad moment as they said good bye. I assume they'll do that again with their last F1 Debrief this coming weekend.

I actually called my wife into the room to replay their "goodbye" to F1...never seen anything like that in broadcasting, before.

In watching that goodbye you could really tell it was affecting Bob Varsha quite a bit. It was quite obvious he was very close to breaking down. He will be missed but at least NBC has put together a team with some knowledge. It will also help that we are familiar with them. I still worry about the programming and what priority it will take in the line up. One good thing is we won't have to worry about being cut short by some NASnore race.

I was hoping to see the crew bid farewell but my DVR had other plans so I missed it. Damn thing stopped recording about 2 minutes after the race had finished. I hate to hear Varsha isn't coming along.

Agreed.

I'm assuming he a solid contract with speed.
