I worked my way through graduate school as a bartender. We had a name for these kind of drinks -- we called them "card table" drinks, because after you drink two, you stand up and your legs fold right under you.

Yeah he was on number 2 or higher.

I really do love this drink. But a well-based LIIT will give you a monster hangover/headache. Just too much sugar and not a lot of balance.

E's Long Island:
Equal parts of-
-Vodka (Grey Goose or better)
-Rum (Any clear rum such as Bacardi)
-Gin (Citadelle is my go-to now, but the Gin heads on here will know better)
-Cointreau (Avoid Triple Sec)

Fresh lemon juice, meyer lemons are best.
Diet Coke - yep, I wrote that... Diet.

Fill a pint to the rip with ice cubes, booze it to about 1.5" from the top, juice a whole lemon, top with Diet Coke.

Insert Straw.

Drink.

Below is an example (sorry for the blur) - and this was post stirring a bit; I'll also note that I like it a bit coke heavy, but you tailor that to taste, and if you pour it just right, you will have a dark top and light bottom.

Years ago before I retired, I was supervising the construction of a fiber optic relay station in Raliegh, North Carolina. I was staying at a Comfort Inn. Cattycorner across the intersection from the Comfort Inn was a Holiday Inn with a big bar/lounge that had live music of Friday and Saturday nights. One Friday evening I pulled into the Holiday in for a nip or two and to listen to the band. I wound up staying for a few hours and drank at least three Long Island Ice Teas. When I left the place I knew I had way too much to try to negotiate my truck back across the intersection to the Comfort Inn so I walked to the hotel, went to my room and hit the sack. Saturday morning I woke, looked out my forth floor window down at the parking lot and freaked out when I didn't see my truck. I jumped into my cloths and was half way down to the first floor when it dawned on me my truck was across the road at the Holiday Inn. Phew! Relief? Oh yeah. Hangover? HUGE!
