Even for the US, these fees seem to be too high.
About the Porsche and implants story, I understand this can seem strange but I would like to remind you that some traders and bank employees, can earn much more than s Porsche in a few minutes behind a computer. This is called speculation. It causes some honest workers to loose their jobs and the economy crunch.
Some people became very rich with the subprimes.
Implantologists do make a lot of money, but they are fools compared to many other jobs.
They usually made 6 years of dental studies, and then a 2 to 3 years complentary specialty studies. During these years, they were not paid.
I agree that some dentists charge abusive fees, but they are not more numerous than MD's, Ear Nose and Throat doctors, surgeons and so on...
You still have the choice to find a honest doctor, taking honest fees for his work.
Good Luck !
David, I did not get the point you made about your son's orthodontist...
PM sent.

Gordon,
they must know each other !! these prices are insane ! take a consultation in an other neighborhood. And most of all, do NOT MENTION what your dentist proposed !

As an orthodontist, I do remake the treatments that did not give satisfactory results, free of charge. I have many friends, general dentists or periodontists who do the same.
Like for all professions, you'll find clean people and gangsters...

: sorry David, you're wrong here. Unless I don't understand what you mean by "strained".
Being a dentist is stressful ( I was a dentist during 5 years before making my postgraduate in orthodontics...) because many people come to see you in emergency. And you have to do something right away. You can't just prescribe cortisone or antibiotics to treat an inflammatory explosion in a tooth. You have to open it. Even at 8 pm, while your kids are waiting for you at home. And the analgesic is usually impossible to make because of the high inflammation and so on..., and the patient shouts... and I will stop here !
