Default Roku Streaming Stick

Just picked up one of these from Amazon. It's the latest model (3600R) and it seems to be the perfect product for what I was looking to do. I had thought about a long HDMI cable (10 meters) but when I started to look at the cost of a good Wireworld cable of that length, I started to look at other avenues. I already had a Netflix account and an Amazon account so this made the most sense.

Started streaming some British crime dramas that came recommended and I need to get caught up on some movies and the summer seems to be a good time to work on that.

I have the Roku 3 and the remote stopped working. Using the mobile app to control Roku is annoying me. May be it's time to get a stick instead. Which crime drama are you talking about?

We tried one called "Happy Valley" but the thick British accents didn't work for us. Then we tried one called "Broadchurch" and found it much more to our liking.

Do you have any that you would recommend or is this more or less uncharted territory for you.

Hope you enjoy. We have a couple we watch on the local PBS stations like Midsomer Murders and Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries.

I thought Roku would have to allow the app to be downloaded.

My wife and I are hooked on the British mysteries and have found the very best place to find them is a ROKU site named ACORN - You can download this site either directly from ROKU or from Amazon - the cost is the same both places, but the ROKU direct site seems to have a bit more content. (less than $5.00 a month and it is GREAT!) Dozens and dozens of British TV shows (and all of them better than the usual American fare.) They will give you a 30 day trial period - so you can't lose.

As to the wonderful British accents . . . often I have trouble understanding what's being said on my TV . . . so we always add closed captioning - in English - and it makes watching so much more enjoyable - because we can understand what they are saying.
