I'm a big Honda fan, we had a '77 for over 10 years issue free, and my 1987 CRXsi was retired recently giving me 22 years of problem free service, not a single issue. I worked with Passats for 3 years in service, and just talked my brother in law out of the TDI last weekend when he was in town. He asked, what do you think of.....

Even if the warranty covers the issues, you are at the dealer every three weeks, it was incredibly boring seeing the same customers over and over and over and over. Engine light for this, engine light on for that, oh it's windy out? engine light on....hard to keep folks happy.

The new Passat is, well, new. New model, new design, built in the US, in Kentucky I beleive, in a LEED certified building. It's gotten fair reviews ... VW seems to have softened it up a bit at least for the US market. The new Accord, from what I've read, has gone the other way
and gotten a bit tighter.

I understand what you mean about the first year of a new model this is the first for the Accord and technically the second for the VW.

Jason , glad you started this thread
Looking at the Accord sport (engine up for one of the ten best new design awards)
Also looking at the Jetta or Passat TDI as a daily driver
I had a chance to drive the 13 Accord sport , like it
But really like the V6 better. I need mpg more than Hp

VW TDIs are hands down the best for the fuel maven.

I have a Golf TDI for over 8 years and even todays new cars with all their distracting & safe tech hasnt pulled me away.

I've been a Honda fan since they first brought out the Prelude in 79. You simply cannot go wrong with a Honda Accord. They are reliable from the get go.

The only advice I would offer, is make sure you change the timing belt when Honda recommends it, but you won't have to worry about that till you hit 50K miles or so...

Buy with confidence...

I wonder if Honda is just giving us the European Accord which is a bit smaller. The engine however is new, direct injected.

I have an Acura which is basically a Honda with lipstick and it has been an unbelievably reliable car. Zero complaints.

I would look at the Passat TDI.. I am on my second VW TDI and they are awesome.

Hondas are great reliable cars but after owning vw's all my life and then giving a honda a try i found there was something missing. It just didnt feel solid to me. Sold the honda after 15 months of ownership and got into a '11 Golf TDI, had that for about 8 months and ended up needing more space and stepped into a 13 Jetta Sportwagen TDI. Could not be happier. getting 40mpg also helps

Don't worry, I have enough complaints about Acura for both of us
