I just purchased Sopra 3’s and was hoping someone could tell me if there is a trick to getting the spikes to extend. It seems like it will take a ton of force with pliers to get them to spin, so I wanted to be sure I wasn’t missing anything...

that sounds really strange..

Just to be sure, you did loosen up the nuts on top of the glass base before trying to adjust?

I own Sopra2’s. Make sure you tip the speaker back slightly and loosen the top of the screw spike. It should turn easily. Just take some weight off of the speaker first. Get someone to help.

That’s for the tips! I’ll make sure there isn’t a nut I need to loosen. My listening room has dim lighting and I could have totally missed it.

Random question, I picked a McIntosh MC 462 amp and my dealer gave me a Linn Selekt DSM, without Katalyst, and a Naim Nova. I’m leaning toward to Linn because the room Optimisation seems to do a great job balancing the 85-135 frequency range. Both seem really great, but is there a third option I should be considering?

If you go for the Linn, try to get the Katalyst if you can. It’s a significant improvement, and could cost a lot more to upgrade to it later.

Ok, I’ve been told it’s quite a step up and my dealer is willing to swap the chip for about $800 (if I’m remembering correctly), which seems like the way to go.

My mistake, it’s actually $1,380 for the upgrade

On the upside, I am considering trading my S3s in for something else so this might help to prop up prices for a used unit.
I don't know if it's to do with COVID or something else entirely, but looking at Upscale Audio's website, it appears the Sopra 2s have come down again. They're down to $7499 each. Still more expensive than when I bought them, but not an unreasonable increase either.
