The Queen is Dead- Long Live The King
Sad to hear of the passing of our Queen overnight.
I never met her personally but did come within 10 metres of her when I lived in London. My Bosses wife was one of the Queen's advisers and she popped into our Office to say hello to him. (I worked for a large Law Firm). Everything now changes. The Queen's face will be removed from our notes & coins, Military and Civil awards & honours will now have King Charles III crown & cipher etc. My daughter will become a 'Kings Council; rather than a "Queens Council' (she is a Lawyer). Our annual Queens Birthday weekend will become The Kings Birthday weekend, and the date will probably change. The changes will take years to unfold. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-61585886

She seemed a decent sort, from what little we Americans know of her (her children are an entirely different kettle of fish). Plus, being of Welsh, Scottish & Irish ancestry, I wonder why the monarchy even exists (on the back of the tax payers).

Rest in Peace. Consider having a "job" for 70 years, one that for all its protocol and being very tradition-bound, certainly came with a plethora of challenges. She rose to those challenges and then some.

May she RIP. I think it's difficult for we Americans to fully understand how deeply her passing is felt across the pond. And it truly marks the end of an era.
This may sound trite or arrogant, but what I may miss most about the Queen was her elegance and class. In a world filled with the cheap, the crude and the profane, she stood apart.
