Is there at least a theoretical chance of a new Michi cd-player?

It would not be the same aesthetically but a CD-transport would work as well and be cheaper.

That was my exact journey also. I had the RC-1070 preamp and RB-991 amp. The preamp ended up dying just after the warranty expired (never figured out what the issue was) so I sold the amp and ended up with the McIntosh C 220/ MC252 pre/amp combo I still use today.

I've have not heard the Rotel Michi gear yet.

It's a Japanese company, with production in China.
The OP never said it was a Chinese company.

Excellent point, Nikko. It is a Japanese company. Owned by the same family for more than 50 years.

It would be very cool if Rotel got their own manufacture forum here.

Cheers,

Scott

I was wondering what criteria is used for a manufacturers sub-forum to get created. Perhaps someone from that company needs to be a sponsor here and request one? In addition to Rotel, I would have thought AudioQuest, Parasound, and Synergistic Research would have one.

Maybe, Rotel belongs in Japanese Exotica?

Rotel is anything but Japanese Exotica IMO.

I thought about starting the thread in the B&W sub forum, but that didn’t really fit. And with Rotel distribution in the US being picked up my Sumiko / McIntosh the waters could even become more murkier.

At the end of the day, a company whose entire production is made in China, this seemed fitting to me. This isn’t Michi RHA-10, RHB-10, RHCD-10 of the 90s.

These behemoths from China may end up in one of my rooms. Or I may stick with an American company made in America, such as McIntosh.

I’d love to get my hands on some of this or hear more feedback from anyone who has used the new Michi.
