I love my Anthem AVM70 processor. I will keep the receiver in mind if/when I install a mini theater in my office.

I am in agreement with Robfine's earlier post - you can add external amplification to a good receiver (one that has pre-outs).

What this does: a receiver has a fixed amount of power - it can be delivered to two speakers or divided among 9 speakers. Better receivers allow you to adjust this as needed. Consider a dedicated 3 channel amp for the front, and let the receiver handle the surrounds. It will run cooler to boot and you can reduce box count. We do this with a Marantz receiver and ATI amplifier. It depends on your space and budget, as always.

This is very good advice as well. A 3 channel power amp for the fronts and let the AVR handle the rears. FWIW, I would not go with anything less than 2 subs in that new theater room as well. Subs really make home theaters work.
