I have had NAD amps that sound soft like a tube amp over the years, for remote systems and for different RV's. They kind of remind of old tube Mac sound, MC 60, 40 and 30. But getting the right model is going to take more knowledge than I have.

A late answer from Norway !
I have tried many different amps on jbl 4365. 1. Mc 275 ( first one, then two) 2. Electrocompaniet AW 400 monoblocks 3. Electrocompaniet Nemo 600 monoblocks 4. Hegel H 30 ( first one, then two) 5. ATI 3002x2 (bi amp) 6. Mc 452 7. Mc 601 monoblocks 8. Mc 1.2 kw monoblocks Jbl 4365 sound great with all of this amps, but since they need much power to get the bass tight and punchy, a powerful amp is a must. The fun begin with Mc 601 and the Nemo's. I ended up with the Mc 1.2 kw's. Fantastic amps and a match made in heaven with the 4365. |

When I first bought my 4365 I thought they would be compatible with some Electraprint 300B amps I had. I was wrong.
What I ended up with was the H2O Audio 250 Signature amp, which has all the refinement of a tube amp, but the power and control of a high current SS amp. The match with the 4365 is excellent, and I can't think of another amp I want to run with them. I suspect you are going to need a higher powered tube amp to get the scale out of these speakers, but something along the lines of Quicksilver, ARC, JC, Manley, VTL....those would do the job. I have had McIntosh MC601's for the 4365 for a couple years. Sounded good but when I cranked it up, the sound seemed 'compressed' to me. I have been thrilled with my JBL 1400 Arrays with the Marantz reference stuff (see sig.) and Marantz finally came out with a new reference--albeit not mono blocks--but I decided to give the Marantz PM-10 integrated a shot. I am not surprised at the difference-much more clarity, resolution and detail yet can be turned up and not break up. Coupled with the Marantz SA11-S3 sacdp it just works--and works quite well.
Good stuff. |

When you win the lottery you can get two MC 901's and bi-amp. 300 watts of tube power and 600 watts of SS power with an electronic crossover built on a single chassis. The tube section as a new form Power Guard for tubes.

Nominal impedance: 8 ohms
Sensitivity (2.83V/1m): 93dB Good gracious, this speaker deserves a pair of SET monoblocks. |
