Hi Georges,
You ordered 23 EVP footers?

Thank you for considering sending some Stillpoints for evaluation, that was thoughtful.

Cheers.

Very interesting read Stephen. How much does your dac weigh? Have you tried adding any weight on top of the dac while using these footers? I’m wondering if those footers work their best at certain weight ranges?

Hi Rick,
My Schiit Gumby DAC weighs 11 lbs and I am using 3 MD (medium-density) 2" X 2" EVPs. As for the weight range that EVPs support, there are different models with different densities and sizes to support everything from about 1lb. up to 304 lbs. If you need to support more than that, Norm can make custom EVPs for you.

From A/V Roomservice:
EVP Loading- A single EVP will perform properly when loaded within the following weight:
2" square Light Density 1-3 lbs. (0.45 - 1.36 kg).
2” square Medium Density: 2-5 lbs. (0.9-2.26 kg)
2” square Heavy Density: 3-19 lbs. (1.3-8.6 kg)
4” square Medium Density: 8-20 lbs. (3.6-9 kg)
4” square Heavy Density: 12-76 lbs. (5.4-34.4 kg)

I had to pay shipping to the UK and it wasn’t economical fromjust a few. And as I said I can footers under each of my components for the price of just 1 Gingko platform.

I just ordered 3 2” MD and 3 2” HD EVP’s to compare with my IsoAcoustics Orea’s.

There is a 10% discount code “TTT” not sure how long it will last.

You ought to try these and see how they compare. Certainly much cheaper.

I did. I bought 3 sets of 4, and a did a data analysis on them, and they don't work as nearly well. The closed-cell foam center is actually acts like an undamped spring, and causes more vibration to be imparted to the DAC, and the "ringing" from these actually lasts longer with than with other anti-vibration pad footers. In fact, the classic cork & rubber anti-vibrations pads are better than the Diversitch closed-cell foam & rubber. And, the Herbie's Tenderfoot footer is considerably better than the Diversitech pad or the cork & rubber anti-vibration pads.

But, none of 'em can hold a candle to the EVPs, though.

Cool, let me know how they work out for you. I've empirically come to the conclusion, though, that 4 are better than 3 because it provides a more even weight distribution on the pads with the component on top of them, especially if one part of the component is heavier than the other, which is common in some components. For example, my preamp and power amps are quite a bit heavier at the back than the front because of their power supplies.

Hi Nicoff.... thanks I already have. I had them before the Orea’s. The Orea’s are much better.
