I'm sure whoever he is knows what he is doing, especially with the PSE's difficult requirements.

I'm afraid Dennis' iron sources are a trade secret, and he has specifically asked that it remain so....

I don't think the actual manufacturer is important. There are a number of quality winders in the US (as well as the UK, Japan, Taiwan, Sweden, etc.) who provide excellent outputs to specification. Since Dennis is having them would to spec (presumably) he has a couple of advantages over using off-the-shelf high end iron. He can optimize for a specific application, and he can make a design decision on a single output impedance using the full secondary winding. This is something he shares with Steve Deckert of Decware; Steve specifies an output impedance o 6 ohms that is a balance between 4 and 8 ohms, and actually puts out a bit more power into 4 ohms than 8.

For what its worth, the outputs look remarkably like Transcendars.

Hasn't that changed with the UFO transformers and a switch for 8 or 4 ohms?

That is my understanding. It likely had to do with customer demand rather than technical necessity. The impedance of most speakers is nominal at best. I doubt that there is much difference between a 6 ohm or 4/8 ohm setting for 4 ohm or 8 ohm speakers. But some "4 ohm" speakers dip to 2 ohms, and some speakers are higher than 8 ohms, such as some Zu Audio speakers and the Devore 0/96.

May not do justice to the beautiful craftsmanship of Dennis' Work. But I have performed the triple bypass surgery to my LP-2. When I first bypassed the 1.5uf Auydin Copper Max with the .22uf Jupiter copper foils the effects were immediate and extremely beneficial. Literally being able to count the individual trumpets or violins in an orchestral piece... Now this the .022uf Rel AudioCap Exotica teflons the sound has taken a bit of a step backwards, ever so slightly. This is my initial impression with under an hour on the caps..... So really take them extremely lightly. These caps are reported to sound pretty horrible up to the 60 hour mark and then steadily improve up to the 400 hour mark. Teflon has an extremely long burn in period.
I would not say that my system sounds in any way horrible, it still sounds pretty amazing to my ears, looking forward to what some burn will bare!
