STC, absolute congrats! You have achieved the pinnacle. I wish you many years of enjoyment. I couldn't be more pleased with my system. Buying the XVX is the best audio purchase I ever made. The XVX at 329,000.00 is a bargain. Of course I can turn it up if I want to but I have found that with my XVX and new Thor, I do not need to listen at loud levels anymore. Everything is simply "there" in a way I have never experienced before. My itch for a better speaker is gone. It takes many months to realize how good the XVX is. Top to bottom coherence with extreme resolution is how I would describe the XVX in a nutshell. You will have even better with your WAMM and more dynamic range.
I know that your WAMM system will bring you the same or greater enjoyment as I am experiencing. I love good jazz. I can listen to it for hours. Wilson speakers in general are tremendous for jazz. Best Charles Last edited by Charles; 07-29-2020 at 05:45 AM. |

STC, if you happen to see this post, I tried to send you a PM and was unable because you are either not permitted to receive them or have chosen not to receive them. Also, it seems a little odd that your WAMM announcement came in this thread or in my thread regarding my new Thor. That's perfectly ok with me, but if I had purchased a WAMM it would be a new thread. I'd like to send you my PM.

Sorry for the late response as I was not on line for the past few days. I am just a basic member hence I have limited access right. I am not active in social media. I made the purchase out of impulse (I guess it could be under the influence of COVID-19 pandemic. I am NOT a carrier it is just that we no longer can travel freely due to the said reason ) and I made the decision to purchase the WAMM within days. However, one week after the decision, I still feel that it is a right decision to go all the way for the WAMM instead of going the half way (e.g. add 2 pcs of Master Subsonic for my XVX speakers.) Enjoy the music with XVX and you have a nice weekend! Cheers! ST Cheng Last edited by Masterlu; 08-01-2020 at 12:07 PM. Reason: It is against Forum rules to post your email publicly. |

Hi ST, Thank you for being a Wilson owner. I believe we met at the Hong Kong event. Trent, Peter, and I set up the WAMM there. That room was the most difficult room any of us have had to work with setting up a WAMM (It's actually two incredibly large rooms.). In your room, and for the intimacy you desire, the amps you choose should be matched (ideally the same). The need for huge power may be a personal preference for other reasons, but intimacy/integration is not one of them. For me, and I have set up more WAMMs than anyone (with Dave, with Daryl, with Peter, and on my own), the perfect integration between WAMM and Master Subsonic is absolutely critical. I also saw mentioned somewhere that the rear firing drivers in the WAMM are not adjustable. This is not correct. To change output on the rear WAMM array, resistors values are changed. There have been a couple of rooms I have experienced where that is necessary. For the most part however, no change has been needed or desired. It is purely a room dependent adjustment. FYI, the XVX rear control is an out growth of the adjustability in the WAMM. It just makes adjustment easier but not any more effective. Again, thank you for being a Wilson owner. I know of only two WAMM owners who have posted on social media/forums. Most are just too busy in their lives and listening to music, as clearly you are. Enjoy! Bill |

Charles one of the aspects of XVX of which Daryl is most rightfully proud is the easy, precisely repeatable adjustability of the rear firing tweeter. It's quite a contrast to what is entailed to adjust the WAMM. To help in the set up of the WAMM rear firing array, Vern constructed a breadboard with multiple resistors that could be hooked up in multiple configurations so we could test the level at which the array should be set. Most WAMMs are in rooms with very high ceilings where no adjustment is necessary. The XVX has found its way into a much greater variety of rooms and often rooms with much lower ceilings. As you have found, Daryl has made it an absolute joy to precisely set the rear tweeter on the XVX.
